Workshop & Schedule
Dance For Teens

The Workshop is truly for beginner dancers. The four session introductory workshop is designed for theatre professionals who want to gain confidence for dance auditions.

Every session includes a thorough warm-up as well as work on both jazz and ballet combinations. More than technique, students learn how to break down combinations; that is, they learn how to learn. Students develop physical strength and performance savvy. Movement for actors, improvisation, and effective ways to stretch are also addressed.

Class size is limited to twelve, you won’t get lost at the back of the class. You will be guided at your own level of proficiency. The work is equally effective for men and women.

The Workshop is designed not just to teach dance steps. Rather, the aim is to prepare students to become better actors and singers – performers with physical flexibility, free from unnecessary mannerisms, able to use the body to develop complete characterizations.

The Workshop offers real dance instruction, (not watered down information). With over 30 years experience in musical theatre, Haila Strauss speaks in the actor/singer’s vocabulary and offers dance training that enhances rather than interferes with the performer’s process.

Graduates of the Workshop may enroll in Weekly Classes.
